What is Art Resin?

Art resin is a specially formulated epoxy system designed for creative applications. Unlike industrial floor epoxies, art resins cure crystal clear, have a longer working time, and are safe for indoor use once cured. They are used for river tables, resin jewellery, abstract wall art, bar tops, and much more.

In India, the art resin market has exploded over the last five years. I’ve seen it firsthand: what used to be a niche hobby is now a full‑blown movement. And with that comes confusion — confusing product names, fake distributors, and resins that yellow in months. That’s why I stock only authorised brands and personally test every product before recommending it.

Which Art Resin is Right for You?

I offer four distinct resins for artists. Each one solves a different problem. No “one size fits all”.

Bondone Clear Cast

The gold standard for deep pours. 300‑minute pot life, perfectly clear, and ideal for river tables and large castings.

How to Choose the Right Resin for Your Project

Answer these three simple questions and I’ll point you to the perfect resin.

Step 1: Indoor or Outdoor?

If your art will live near a window, on a balcony, or directly outside → Clear Cast UV Stable.

For strictly indoor pieces (no direct sunlight) → move to step 2.

Step 2: Deep pour or thin surface coat?

If you’re casting a thick slab, river table, or embedding objects → Bondone Clear Cast.

If you only need a glossy 1‑2mm layer on a bar top or painted panel → Bondone ClearLam CC.

Step 3: Art piece or precision jewellery?

For intricate jewellery, tiny cabochons, or high‑detail moulds → Lapox Ultra is unmatched.

Otherwise, stick with the Clear Cast family — it’s more forgiving for beginners.

That’s it. You just picked your resin. If you still have doubts, WhatsApp me directly and I’ll help you choose in 60 seconds.

5 Mistakes I’ve Watched Artists Make (and How to Avoid Them)

I’ve been selling resin since 2016. I’ve seen it all. Here are the real, painful lessons people learn the hard way:

1. Buying too little resin

They calculate the perfect volume, then forget about the edges, the seal coat, and the inevitable spill. I always say add 20% extra. A woman in Rohini once ran out mid‑pour on a ₹35,000 wood slab. She now orders extra without fail.

2. Whipping the mixture

Resin is not cake batter. Mix slowly, deliberately. I once lost ₹2,800 worth of product because I was in a hurry and beat air into it. The result looked like frosted glass.

3. Ignoring humidity and temperature

Pot life at 25°C is 300 minutes. At 38°C in a Delhi summer, it drops to 180. Mix in an air‑conditioned room or early morning. I learnt this when a batch gelled in the bucket before I could pour.

4. Using the wrong resin for outdoor pieces

Normal Clear Cast will amber near a window in 6‑8 months. I’ve replaced UV‑damaged tables for customers who didn’t know about UV Stable. Don’t make that ₹6,400 mistake.

5. Not wearing gloves or a mask

Epoxy hardener fumes can sensitise your lungs. A jeweller in Jaipur ignored this and now can’t be near uncured resin. Protect yourself.

"I'm not a corporate supplier. I'm an artist who learned epoxy the hard way."

My name is Jobin Samuel. I started Si Epoxy Adhesives in 2016 because I was tired of seeing Indian artists struggle with fake, yellowing resins. I have a real warehouse in Ghaziabad — Kh No. 936, Karhera — stocked with authentic Bondone, Lapox and Jubitite products.

If you call me at 11 PM because your resin is behaving strangely, I’ll answer. I’ve poured enough resin to know exactly how it misbehaves. I’m not here to upsell you; I’m here to make sure you get the right product the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions — Art Resin

What is art resin and how is it different from industrial epoxy?

Art resin is formulated for clarity, low odour, and indoor safety. Industrial epoxies often have yellowish hardeners, cure fast, and may release harmful VOCs. Art resin like Bondone Clear Cast is formulated for crystal clarity and self‑levels for a flawless finish.

Which epoxy resin is best for beginners in India?

For most beginners, I recommend Bondone Clear Cast. Its 300‑minute pot life gives you plenty of time to work, and it’s very forgiving of small mixing errors. Start with a 1.2 kg kit to practice.

Can I use art resin outdoors in India?

Only if you use a UV‑stable variant like Bondone Clear Cast UV Stable. Normal art resin will yellow within months under direct sunlight or even strong window light. The UV version uses light stabilisers that dramatically slow the ambering process.

How long does epoxy resin take to cure in Indian weather?

At the standard 25°C, most art resins are dry to the touch in 12‑16 hours and fully cured in 24 hours. In hotter temperatures (35°C+), the cure accelerates but the pot life drops. In colder weather (below 20°C), curing may take 48 hours or more. Always work in a controlled environment if possible.

Is art resin safe to use at home?

Yes, once fully cured. In the liquid state, always wear gloves and work in a well‑ventilated area. Avoid inhaling fumes during mixing. After 24 hours, the cured resin is inert and safe for incidental food contact (like a charcuterie board), though I don't recommend it for prolonged food storage.

Where can I buy genuine art resin in India?

Right here. I’m an authorised distributor for Bondone, Lapox and Jubitite. I ship from my Ghaziabad warehouse to all over India. Every kit is sealed and comes with the original manufacturer TDS. WhatsApp me at +91-8595955752 to order.
