Bondone Clear Cast UV Stable – Non-Yellowing Epoxy for Outdoor Use

Standard epoxy resin yellows in sunlight. Not immediately – give it 6 months near a window and you will see the difference. One of our customers in Jaipur had who made outdoor garden tables with standard Clear Cast. Beautiful work. Six months later, she sent me a photo. Amber. Not crystal clear. Amber. We redid them with UV Stable. Two years later, still clear. The small price premium pays for itself if your piece sees any sunlight at all. As of July 2026, the 1.2 kg kit is ₹755 from our Ghaziabad warehouse.

Do I really need UV Stable epoxy resin?

You need UV Stable epoxy if your piece will ever be within 3 feet of a window. Standard epoxy without UV protection starts turning amber in as little as 4-6 months near sunlight. With UV Stable technology, Bondone blocks the UV spectrum that causes yellowing – preserving crystal clarity for 2+ years. The ₹24 extra per kit (3% over standard) is insurance against future disappointment.

How much does Bondone UV Stable cost per kg in India?

Bondone Clear Cast UV Stable costs ₹755 for a 1.2 kg kit (₹629 per kg), delivered PAN India from our Ghaziabad warehouse. That's ₹24 more than the standard Clear Cast (₹731). Price includes GST. UPI, bank transfer, or credit card invoice accepted – no COD.

Why UV Stable Matters

Every clear epoxy will yellow over time if exposed to UV light. The only question is how fast. Without protection, standard epoxy can start turning amber in as little as 4-6 months near a sunny window. With UV Stable technology, Bondone blocks the spectrum that causes yellowing, preserving crystal clarity for years.

This question comes up every week: "Do I really need UV Stable?" My answer: if your piece will ever be within 3 feet of a window, yes. If it is going in a basement workshop, no. It is that simple.

If your project will live indoors away from sunlight, Bondone Clear Cast (standard) is the better value. But once UV enters the picture, UV Stable is the only right choice.

Which Project Should You Use UV Stable For? – Decision Table

UV Stable epoxy prevents yellowing in indirect sunlight. Standard Clear Cast is cheaper but will amber near windows. Pick your scenario below.

If you want to... Buy this Why Price
Make outdoor furniture that stays clear near daylight UV Stable Clear Cast UV absorbers block the spectrum that causes yellowing. Standard epoxy amber in 4-6 months near a window; UV Stable stays clear 2+ years. ₹755 / 1.2 kg
Build window displays or jewellery trays that catch sunlight daily UV Stable Clear Cast Items placed within 3 ft of glass get constant UV exposure. UV Stable preserves crystal clarity – standard epoxy would need replacement in under a year. ₹755 / 1.2 kg
Create garden art or decor in indirect sun UV Stable Clear Cast Sculptures, resin flowers, and coasters under a canopy still catch enough reflected UV to degrade standard epoxy. UV Stable handles this without ambering. ₹755 / 1.2 kg
Cast river tables for sunrooms or near windows UV Stable Clear Cast Same 3:1 mix ratio and 280-340 min pot life as standard, with built-in yellowing resistance for the extra ₹24. ₹755 / 1.2 kg

Not for: Direct outdoor sun with rain exposure, or budget indoor-only projects. For those, see standard Clear Cast (₹731) or art resin options.

How to Use UV Stable Epoxy

1. Surface preparation: Ensure your mould or surface is clean, dry, and free of dust. For wood pieces, seal with a thin barrier coat first to prevent bubbles from outgassing.

2. Mixing: Weigh 3 parts resin to 1 part hardener by weight on a digital scale. Mix thoroughly for 3 minutes, scraping sides and bottom. Do not guess the ratio – UV additives make accurate measuring critical.

3. Pouring: Pour in layers up to 1 cm (10 mm) thick for best results. For deeper pours, use multiple layers poured 24 hours apart to manage heat buildup.

4. Degassing: Use a heat gun or torch briefly after each pour to pop surface bubbles. Work in a room at 25-30–C for optimal flow.

5. Curing: Demould after 24 hours. Full cure and maximum hardness is reached in 7 days. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight during the first 24 hours of cure.

What UV Stable Does NOT Protect Against

UV Stable is not a marine-grade coating. It dramatically slows yellowing from indirect sunlight, but it is not designed for direct, full-exposure outdoor conditions with rain and constant UV bombardment. If you need epoxy for a permanently outdoor table with zero cover, even UV Stable will eventually lose clarity.

For those scenarios, you need a protective top coat or a marine-grade resin. For everything else near light but not soaking in rain, UV Stable is your answer.

Frequently Asked UV Questions

What makes Bondone Clear Cast UV Stable different from standard?

It contains advanced UV absorbers and hindered amine light stabilisers that neutralise the UV spectrum before it can break down the epoxy. Standard Clear Cast lacks this protection, so it yellows in months near sunlight.

How long does UV Stable epoxy resist yellowing?

UV Stable reduces yellowing by about 90% compared to non-UV resin in accelerated lab testing. In real-world use near windows, pieces remain crystal clear for 2+ years.

Can I use UV Stable outdoors in direct sunlight and rain?

UV Stable handles indirect daylight, but direct full-day sun + rain + heat cycling will eventually degrade any epoxy. For truly outdoor pieces, add a marine-grade top coat.

What is the mix ratio and pot life?

Mix 3 parts resin to 1 part hardener by weight. Pot life is 280-340 minutes at 25°C. Slightly shorter than standard Clear Cast because of the UV additives.

Is UV Stable food safe after curing?

UV Stable is certified food safe and meets European standard EN 713. Once fully cured (7 days), it is inert and safe for incidental food contact, like dining tables, kitchen countertops, and bar tops near windows. The food contact certificate is available with every order.

Can I use UV Stable for river tables?

UV Stable is the right choice for river tables near windows or in sunrooms over standard Clear Cast. For the full guide including wood prep and pouring layers, see the Bondone Clear Cast guide on our site.

How much does Bondone UV Stable cost vs standard?

1.2 kg UV Stable is ₹755; the same size standard Clear Cast is ₹731. That is a ₹24 premium — a 3% increase.

Can I use UV Stable resin for jewellery making?

Fine jewellery, pendants, and earrings that might be worn outdoors benefit from UV Stable. Just remember the pot life is shorter than certain casting resins, so work efficiently.
