What is Metalam System B?
Lapox Metalam‑B (by Atul Ltd) is a two‑component, ambient‑cure epoxy coating system. It consists of a clear, transparent resin and a clear, transparent hardener. When mixed in the correct ratio (100 parts resin to 50 parts hardener by weight) and applied thin, it forms a high‑gloss, optically clear protective layer on most surfaces — metals, glass, plastics, wood, paper, even natural stones. It's not a thick casting resin like Lapox Ultra; it's a surface coating designed to be spread with a brush, spatula, or dispensing bottle.

How to Use Metalam System B
1. Surface Preparation
Degrease thoroughly with acetone, toluene, or trichloroethylene. Surface must be free of dirt, oil, grease, and moisture. Wipe with a clean cloth. Inadequate prep is the #1 cause of poor adhesion.
2. Mixing
Weigh resin and hardener at 100:50 by weight — use a digital scale, not volumetric estimates. Mix thoroughly for 2–3 minutes, scraping the sides. Pot life is only 20–35 minutes at 25°C. Mix only what you can apply immediately.
3. Application
Apply by brush, spatula, or dispensing bottle in a thin, even layer. The mix self-levels at 500–800 mPa·s viscosity. Use entire mixed batch within pot life — do not add unmixed components after mixing begins.
4. Curing
Cures at room temperature in ~24 hours. For faster results and optimum bond strength, cure at 40–60°C. Surface dry is 150–180 hours for a 200µm film; touch dry 230–260 hours. Do not disturb during cure.
